What does OTT platform means ?
OTT platforms is a specific platform where media services streaming directly to viewers by using internet connection.
Over-the-top (OTT) services include things like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, which are not web sites but rather streaming video services. These services are delivered through apps rather than websites. They also offer access not just to live TV channels, but to movies, music, games and so on.
Over-the-top (OTT) platforms let viewers watch their favorite shows and films from anywhere at any time. This has become very popular especially with smartphones and tablets, but it’s not limited to them.
Over-the-top (OTT) platforms allow companies to create and offer their own ad networks to customers at no cost These ad networks are often free to join and include tens of thousands of advertisers.

1.Netflix
Netflix, Inc is a U.S. subscription streaming service and production house. It was launched on August 29, 1997 and offers a film and television library through distribution deals as wells as its own productions, called Netflix Originals.
Netflix is accessible through a wide variety of devices, including web browsers, smart TVs, set top boxes connected to televisions and tablets, smartphones, digital media player, Blu-ray players and virtual reality headsets.
Initially, Netflix both sold and rented DVDs through the mail, but the sales of DVDs were eliminated within a year so they could focus on the DVD rental service.

Amazon Prime video is a American OTT platform.It provides rental service of Amazon.It distributes movies and television series produced by Amazon studios as Amazon orginals.It also provides movies and all over series from others providers like live sport events, rental videos.
It was launched on September 7, 2006 in the United States as Amazon Unbox. On 4 Sept 2008 amazon unbox was renamed Amazon Video on Demand.
Amazon launched the Streaming Partners program in 2015, which allows subscription-based third-parties to stream their content to Amazon Prime members through the Amazon Video platform These services are not part of the Amazon Video service. You need to purchase them separately.
The original launch in North America included services such as CuriosityStream, Lifetime Movie Club, AMC’s Shudder, Showtime and Starz, among others. The service subsequently added other partnerships.

Disney + Hotstar also known as Hotstar.Hotstar is an Indian subscription video OTT platform.It distributes movies and television shows produced by Hotstar or any other providers.Now it’s streams Disneys movies,television series,live sports.
Hotstar is available to stream via supported web browsers, smartphone and tablet computers, as app on digital media players and TV sets.
Hotstar allows users access to streaming content on up to four devices at once, and downloads content for offline viewing depending on the individual content licenses. Most content can be streamed at resolutions up to 1080p (1080p).
On April 8, 2020, Hotstar began rolling out Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound for its Android TV app, Apple TV app, Fire TV app, Fire TV Stick, and Roku channel.

The platform launched its web series in 2018 with Telugu actor Nanna Koochi.Zee5 was launched in 2018 with original shows such as ‘Nanna Koochi America Mappillai’, ‘Life Sahi Hai’, and ‘Karenjit Kaur – The Untold Story of Sunny Leone’.
