CREATIVE arts students at Coleg Llandrillo in Rhos-on-Sea are celebrating after their end-of-year digital graphics project was recognised at a global design awards competition in the USA.
The AS and A-level graphic communication students received an “honourable mention” from an international jury at the International Design Awards (IDA) in Los Angeles for the graphic design of their yearbook.
The IDA is a worldwide, open competition for both design professionals and students, recognising, celebrating and promoting the best in design.
Thousands of cutting-edge designs and innovative products from entrants from nearly 100 countries vied for the top prizes at this prestigious ceremony.

This competition recognises, honours and promotes design visionaries and uncovers emerging talents in architecture, interior, product, graphic and fashion design, on a global level.
Previously, Coleg Llandrillo’s art students have won gold, silver and bronze at the IDA, as well as scooping gold at the Paris Design Awards.
College tutor Dewi Hughes, who is a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers with 40 years commercial graphic design and education experience, said: “I would like to congratulate the whole team of students for their inspirational project.
“Offering unparalleled levels of exposure to an esteemed international audience, the competition is an incredible chance to push people’s work to the next level.
“We have international recognition for creative arts once more here at Coleg Llandrillo.”
