The guidance is for:
local authorities
school leaders
governing bodies and their representatives
It relates to local authority mainstream schools and academies in England.
This guidance will help local authorities and schools understand how the mainstream schools additional grant (MSAG) is calculated for 2023 to 2024 and how this will be paid to maintained schools and academies.
You can view the indicative local-authority level allocations for the mainstream schools additional grant alongside the DSG allocations.
The calculator is designed to give schools a close estimation of the funding they will receive through the mainstream schools additional grant in 2023 to 2024 – in advance of the funding allocations themselves being confirmed in spring 2023. The calculator contains a guidance page for schools on the data to enter to see their funding estimate.
Maintained schools and academies will receive this funding from April 2023
You can find out more about the dedicated schools grant (DSG) settlement for 2023 to 2024.
We’ve added the mainstream schools additional grant calculator and supporting guidance.
