School’s back in as Bad Education reveals its new series four cast. But who rules the school, and who’s just a class clown?
Bad Education is back for another term, with series four coming to BBC Three from Sunday 15 January.
Series four introduces a whole new cast of classmates for Stephen (played by Layton Williams) and Mitchell (Charlie Wernham) to teach – or at least try to.
But chaotic classmates like gossipy Usma (Asha Hassan) and scam queen Blessing (Francesca Amewudah-Rivers) are going to cause them just as much trouble as they caused Mr. Wickers (Jack Whitehall) back in the day.
To introduce the new students of Class K, let’s crack open the Abbey Grove yearbook and see which “most likely to” awards all the Bad Education series four cast have won.
Glamorous gossip Usma is the girl to go to if you want to know anything about anyone at Abbey Grove.
Layton says of the character in an interview with BBC Three: “She's very like Stephen. I remember specifically being a part of the process of creating that character in the writers' room. To then see the character actually come alive was really magical.”
“She's got so much sass, she’s definitely queen of the classroom,” Charlie adds.
Usma is played by Asha Hassan, who made her on screen debut in the hit indie movie Rocks.
Blessing has money on her mind – and she’s willing to hustle her fellow classmates (and teachers) to get it.
For Mitchell actor Charlie Wernham, Blessing was a standout of the Bad Education cast. “I've got a bit of bias towards Blessing,” he says. “Mitchell can see a little bit of himself in her when she’s running scams, making money, getting into trouble and being cheeky. She’s almost like his sidekick.”
In Inchez’s mind, he is set to be the new rap god – but in reality, he is more Songs of Praise than Skepta. He tries to convince Class K he is a hardman, but he’s fooling nobody.
Playing Inchez is Anthony J Abraham. Most recently, the young actor was seen in 18 episodes of CBBC drama Theodosia and ITV show Tell Me Everything.
Harrison is not the sharpest tool in the Bad Education shed…in fact, he might be the bluntest. That doesn’t stop him, however, being very loyal to his teachers – whatever mad plan they want him to get involved in.
Bad Education series four is actor Bobby Johnson’s first TV role.
If Blessing is like Mitchell’s protegée, then Warren is Stephen’s favourite pupil. Unfortunately for Warren, this mostly means having to neglect his studies to assist in Stephen’s latest attempts to be a star.
Ali Hadji-Heshmati, who plays Warren, may be familiar to BBC viewers from his role as Abs, the teen murder suspect from the 2021 series of Holby City.
Since Mr. Wickers decided to leave the school in the reunion special, Abbey Grove has been missing a clueless posh person totally out of their depth. Luckily, that gap is now filled by Jinx, the school’s privileged but principled new pupil.
Jinx is brought to life by Laura Marcus, who previously starred in BBC Three sketch show Laugh Lessons, as well as a 2022 episode of Silent Witness.
You can watch the first-class new Bad Education cast on Sundays at 10pm on BBC Three. All previous episodes are streaming now on BBC iPlayer.
