Hong Kong remains among the top 25 countries and territories sending students for education in the United States, according to the newly released Open Doors® Report on International Educational Exchange. (Full report: https://opendoorsdata.org/ for the complete survey on international and U.S. higher education student mobility.)
Overall, the United States remains the top destination for international students, with over 948,000 international students during the 2021/2022 academic year – and the total number of international students enrolled in U.S. institutions continues to rise. This calendar year the United States has issued nearly 581,000 student visas. U.S. universities (which dominate the top-tier of international rankings), and other academic institutions are open for a new generation of Hong Kong students to find opportunities and academic success.
“International education is critical to solving the global issues of our time; we all know that our shared challenges cannot be solved without strong, personal connections and cutting-edge research. We want international students from Hong Kong and other diverse backgrounds at U.S. higher education institutions to strengthen ties between the United States and the world,” said U.S. Consul General Gregory May.
As part of International Education Week last week, U.S. Consulate General staff, including Consul General May, visited local schools to promote ‘Study in the USA’, where students heard directly about the highlights of U.S. education.
The Consulate’s education team is happy to provide accurate, comprehensive, and current information to parents, students, and schools about opportunities to study at accredited post-secondary institutions in the United States. For inquires and information, please contact: [email protected]
